Michál is a director and co-founder of Walters and Cohen. She has been responsible for many of the practice’s education projects, including ten primary schools, three children's centres, six nursery schools, four BSF secondary schools and two research projects for the DCSF: the Exemplar Primary School Design and the Standard Specification, Layouts and Dimensions (SSLD) for toilet facilities in schools.

She is also Technical Advisor for an Academy and Learning Village in Havering.

Michál has visited and researched school design in Italy, Denmark and South Africa in order to understand Best Practice in a wider context, and her expertise on the relationship between design and learning – in both primary and secondary education – is now well established.

Michál is on a number of advisory boards exploring, among others, design quality in schools and Personalised Learning. She is currently a member of the CABE schools review panel.
