Julia began her teaching career thirty one years ago in the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell. She has worked in a number of Primary schools and has been the Headteacher of Sandal Magna Junior & Infant School in Wakefield for the past 7 years.
Julia has worked in a variety of learning environments, including schools from the Victorian era, the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s and is currently awaiting the completion of a new school building in Summer 2010.
The process of designing a new school building has been a wonderful opportunity for the school to create a learning environment for the 21st Century, which reflects the needs of its pupils, families and the wider community.
The new build is on the same site and has necessitated the demolition of part of the original 1890’s building. All stakeholders have worked hard to minimise disruption to the children’s education on this extremely small site.
